Dear Uncle Harold,
I miss you. A lot. I have for the entirty of the 7 years since I last saw you; 6 years since you died. A lot has changed since then. For example, I learned just how badass you were. I learned the side effects of war. I learned what real and honest guilt feels like. I learned grief, fear, anger, joy, saddness, pain, heartbreak, euphoria, contentment. I learned what it was to watch a person detiorate in a debilitating depression. I learned how to smile despite it all, to always look for that proverbial silver lining. I learned that the world is a glorious and terrible place. I learned friendship and unconditional love. I learned how to get over a fear and sing in front of a crowd. I learned how to open my heart to someone. I learned the pain when someone breaks your heart. I learned how to move on from that heartbreak and trust again. I grew to be a person that I hope you're proud of.
I think the biggest lesson I learned though is how to truly miss a person. I wish you were still around to talk to all of the time.
I love you and can't wait to see you again.
All my love,
Ally
PS- You're my favorite great uncle but don't tell anyone else that ;)

Thirty Days of Letters: Days 2-6
Day 2:
Dear Jackson Rathbone,
This is a letter to you as my crush because I don't have one who is not a celebrity and you are my favorite. You're super talented and super cute. The end.
Sincerely,
A Quasi-Gushy Fangirl :)
Day 3:
Dear Mom and Dad,
I love and appreciate you!!! What more is there to say?
Love,
AllyRoo
Day 4:
Dear PJ,
You rock kid! Just, you know, do your homework :p. I know you would love "It's Kind of A Funny Story" by Ned Vizzini if you could read it but because of the way your brain works, I'm working on finding you an audiobook version of it so you can listen to it instead. Don't worry too much about girlfriends yet, just have fun being a kid. Eat more fruits and veggies! Love you little brother :)
Love,
Ally
Day 5:
Dear dreams,
You guys are craaaazy. Why? Freud would have a field day with you lot. I mean, yeah, I like a British accent but must everyone speak in one? And what was with the last three Doctors from Doctor Who? I get the hoverboards but what was with the number of funerals attended? I do have to say that I enjoyed Swan Lake being the soundtrack to the whole process with little snippets of August Rush in there. That was kind of cool. Thanks for the purple highlights as well :)
Best Wishes!
Me
Day 6:
Hello :)
I have so many questions for you. What's your favorite color? What kind of music do you like? How old are you? Do you have a story? If so, what is it? What challanges have you had to face in your life? Do you like books? What has been your best day to date? Your worst? Is dancing enjoyable to you? What are your passions? Who are the most important people in your life? Do you like your family? Are they interesting? Do you have any secrets? Did/do you like school? What's your favorite subject? Do you like philosophy? Do you like the Earth? Are you a fan of humanity's potential at the very least? Are you going to change your world?
Thank's for Reading!

She's got the beat
It seems as though the majority of my conversations of revolved around music since the end of the fall semester. I've picked up a lot of good recommendations, heard stuff on TV shows and the radio, as well as just stumbling upon artists and songs on the interwebs. There just hasn't been much of an opportunity to share this great music. So, here it is, the music that's been running through my head.
"Don't take, don't take, don't take, don't take it so lightly when you say, you say, you say, when you say you love me"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xv-Edf9P0P4
I heard this song on a One Tree Hill rerun on SoapNet the other day (guilty pleasure) and had to find it. When I did, I fell very quickly in love with it. There's a classic sound to this song that is just relaxing and calming to me. It made me want to cry and not because I was sad but just the comfort I felt in listening to the song.
"Be my friend, hold me, wrap me up, unfold me. I am small, I'm needy. Warm me up and breathe me"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NiIL0w916xM
I'm listening to this song as I write this. I found it while I was getting the link for the previous one. It's a gorgeous song, very evocative emotionally (this means I'm crying my freaking eyes out).
"At every occasion I'll be ready for a funeral"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ibE7IqEjni4
A person needs to be in the right frame of mind to really like most of the music I've been listening to. It's all rather melancholy. I'm not sure why, it's just the way I am for now. I mean, there's a few dancey songs and fun punk stuff sprinkled in when I'm talking to someone about music or out with people but when I've been on my own, I have been sticking with the melancholy. Yes, this has nothing to do with the song I just linked but I just have no words with which to describe it.
"You know there will be days when you're so tired that you can't take another step. The night will have no stars and you'll think you've gone as far as you will ever get. You and me walk on, walk on, walk on"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6JscAwVu2QI
This song reminds me of the people who I've come along side of to help through tough times and the people who have likewise done the same for me. I say thank you to both. To those I've come along side of, thank you for trusting me and letting me in during your darkest times. To those who came along side of me, thank you for allowing me to be weak and broken.
"Don't speak, don't breathe, you bring out the devil in me"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LvbPdcZMf_Q
It's the acoustic version of the song. I like it. I want to say "I relate to this song so much" but of course I do. I wouldn't like it if I didn't relate in some way.
"Pitterpat the angel on my shoulder is haunting me tonight"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-ZIzJUrViY4
Erin McCarly, the artist who brought us "Love Save The Empty" also offers up this song on the same album. I like this song super very much.
"No I don't want to see you go. No I don't want to be alone."
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9in_2bpi2Bg
I can't tell if this is a break up song or not. What do you think? I love it either way. Angus & Julia Stone have gorgeous music. If you agree, you'll enjoy the next song :)
"And I'm waiting for the day, I know you'll have the heart"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c0VKlQl5fOc
Nothing takes the taste out of peanut butter quite like unrequitted love. ~Charlie Brown. At least, I'm pretty sure that's how the quote goes. Either way, you get the gist. This song makes me think of unrequitted love. We all know what it's like to be romantically interested in someone who does not feel the same way. We all know what it feels like to be rejected. To me, this song expresses those feelings very well.
"And you know you're not there when the sound of a song cannot soothe you"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4U9lUrcieIM
Much peppier. The thumbnail for the video is creepy. The lyrics are stunning. The artist is fantastic. The song is magnificent.
"I walk home as the sun goes down and listen for your voice but you're not there to call me I forget sometimes"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tRYo-tC8xhk
Literally an unknown unless you subscribe to certain YouTube channels. I like his sound and his music and just yeah. Check him out. Throw him some support :)
This is just the beginning of my list, I've simply run out of sufficient words.
Smile, it confuses people!
Also, Happy Christmas!!

Thirty Days of Letters: Day 1
Dear Melody,
Remember that? Our delve into the world of fanfiction. It was six years ago that we first bonded over a mutual love (obsession!) of J.R.R. Tolkien's Lord of the Rings and every book in that world. I just had to do the math to figure that out, naturally. Over the years we've found more and more that we mutually love and our friendship continues to grow. We may hit lulls every now and then but it's never for long. Then and now there were/are times that I at least feel like the two year age gap between up does not exist. I cannot wait to do wedding stuff over break with you. I can't wait for your wedding! I find it to be surreal in a way that the things we talked about in your room when sleep would evade us are all coming true. I love you girlie! You're going so many places and I'm proud to call you friend.
Wind to thy Wings,
Niriel
Hey Junior!
So, it's been ... five years? I can't wait until one of our visits me it at my house or your's! I don't even remember how we met but I know our one and only fight to date. That 24 hour time span when a guy (eh-hem) actually came between us. Well, we were newbies to our relationship so it needed to be tested I guess and, obivously, we passed. Do you remember that day/night? Anyway, you are beautiful and smart. Really, you are! Whatever challenges life throws your way you will meet and defeat and you will be Brilliant.

Mister Music Man,
Five years ago. We met five years ago but it wasn't until three years ago that hints of a friendship starting appearing in our acquaintanceship. The weirdest things hold us together like The Lion King and Walmart. Really, my friend, you are crazy. Well, we are crazy which I guess is the point. Thank you for Fight Club and Dogma and In Bruges and for every other movie and book and Walmart battle. You, sir, are the brother I chose. Don't ask me to explain the way I address you in this little note. I have no idea where that came from.
Peace out man!
Your Chauffeur
